Job Description

The Quality Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all Kenya Cof products and processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role involves the meticulous analysis of coffee products at various stages, from raw beans to the final processed product. The Quality Analyst will work collaboratively with the trade, finance, logistics, and administration departments to uphold and improve quality control measures throughout the supply chain. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Product Inspection and Analysis: 

  • Conduct rigorous analysis of incoming green coffee beans, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished products to ensure they conform to internal and international standards. 

  • Perform a range of tests and inspections to evaluate physical and sensory characteristics of coffee, including but not limited to bean size, moisture content, defect count, aroma, and taste (cupping). 

  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance. 

  • Document all test results, findings, and deviations. 

  • Process Monitoring and Auditing: 

  • Continuously monitor manufacturing and processing stages to ensure adherence to established quality standards and procedures. 

  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits of processes, hygiene, and product handling to identify potential non-conformances. 

  • Identify and implement immediate corrective actions to prevent product degradation and cross-contamination. 

  • Reporting and Documentation: 

  • Prepare comprehensive analytical reports outlining quality deviations, performance metrics, and trends. 

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all quality assurance activities and findings. 

  • Collaborate with the Head of Quality Control to develop and update quality standards, procedures, and work instructions. 

  • Compliance and Continuous Improvement: 

  • Analyze data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas for process improvement. 

  • Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes to address customer feedback and product issues. 

  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and quality. 

  • Training and Collaboration: 

  • Work with various departments to ensure all employees are aware of and adhere to quality standards and procedures. 

  • Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements based on audit findings and data analysis. 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in a relevant field such as Food Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline. 

  • Proven experience as a Quality Analyst, preferably in the coffee or a related food and beverage industry. 

  • Strong understanding of quality control and assurance processes. 

  • Knowledge of food safety requirements and regulatory compliance. 

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures. 

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
