Job Description
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Carbon Carbon (Inventory) – 30%
- Oversee corporate carbon accounting to track Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in line with international standards (GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISO 14064).
- Develop and execute the company’s carbon transition roadmap, including verification & integrating it across operations and supply chains and
- Coordinate validation of methodologies and alignment of internal systems with evolving regulations and frameworks (e.g., EU CSRD, SBTi, emerging carbon regulations).
- Product Footprint – 40%
- Oversee product carbon footprint assessments led by the Data Analyst, leading methodology developments around IMPACT carbon survey design, developing manuals & training materials and capacity building team members.
- Oversee the verification and ongoing validation of the Sucafina Product Footprint Tool, ensuring methodological rigor and transparency.
- Conduct assessment of potential carbon measurement tools to track progress.
- Guide the formalization and deployment of the carbon forecasting methodology, integrating models developed by Global Agronomy Manager and ensuring consistency across origins.
- Conduct comparative assessments of MEO and other frameworks (e.g., CFT), analyzing migration effort and cost implications.
- Drive capacity building through manuals, training, and knowledge sharing on carbon footprint methodologies and data quality checks.
- Client-Focused Carbon Solutions (30%)
- Design and support client-focused carbon services, including carbon footprint assessments and decarbonization pathways in conjunction with the Global Agronomy Manager.
- Develop carbon insetting and offsetting strategies tailored to client needs.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to integrate carbon-related value propositions into customer offerings.
- Lead engagement with certification bodies and verification standards to verify projects (identify standards and methodologies, timelines-effort-cost, and execute implementation).
Job Qualifications
Qualifications and Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, data science, quantitative agronomy, or similar fields. Master’s degree would be a plus.
Experience
Minimum 5+ years in carbon management or climate solutions, preferably in agriculture or coffee.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies (GHG Protocol, IPCC Guidelines, SBTi).
- Strong expertise in carbon project development and financing.
- Experience with carbon verification and certification processes (Gold Standard, Verra, etc.).
- Familiarity with climate-smart agriculture and regenerative farming practices.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop actionable climate solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to work across teams (e.g., sourcing, commercial, sustainability).
- Effective communication and client engagement skills to translate technical concepts into business opportunities.
- Able to work independently and happy to work at distance with colleagues from around the world
