Job Description
The Vice President, Discipline Strategy, STEM, will be instrumental in steering our strategic and programmatic efforts to transcend traditional educational publishing models. This role is designed for a transformative leader who is adept at navigating the complexities of the ed-tech landscape and driving a business model focused on a digital-first, customer-centric pedagogy. This role manages other employees.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the development and execution of an innovative digital-first, course-pedagogy focused strategy across STEM disciplines.
- Innovate and evolve content and program strategies using Macmillan Learning’s digital platforms (Achieve, iClicker) and via partner and other technologies.
- Transition from a textbook-centric approach to a comprehensive course-based strategy, enhancing educational value and market positioning.
- Cultivate and manage a high-performance team focused on rapid, iterative content creation and effective program execution.
- Implement data-driven methodologies to increase market share and ensure high retention rates, establishing a leading market presence.
- Collaborate with multiple departments such as Finance, Marketing, and Sales to maximize business outcomes and educational impacts.
Job Qualifications
Ideal Candidate:
- Demonstrated leadership in educational technology businesses, ideally with experience bringing a start-up mentality to established companies.
- Expertise in product-led growth models, with a proven track record of using these strategies to drive business success and transformation.
- Strategic thinker with robust experience in digital education product operations and market strategy innovation.
- Skilled in analytical decision-making, with a strong orientation towards data-driven culture and metrics.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to mentor, inspire, and lead diverse teams through dynamic changes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership position within the educational technology marketplace; or experience in media industries that transitioned from print-to-digital business models.
- 5+ years of experience as a senior leader leading teams through periods of market change and transformation with success developing skills and driving change in their organization.
- 5 + years of success in customer-centric business models that required development of key networks of users and non-users to support growth and innovation.
- Proficiency in educational technology, systems, and practices.
- Strong analytical skills and data-informed practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel for meetings (<20% of time).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree.
- Certifications in product marketing, product discovery methodologies, or other modern market segmentation strategies and practices.
