« I never expected that my daughters and I would be in college at the same time, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.»
When I was first introduced to Jobs for Humanity, the Single Moms cause resonated with me.
I realize how fortunate I am as a single mom myself. I have been with my employer for 15 years, and have been able to learn and grow in my career.
During that time, I raised two daughters on my own. I didn’t finish college, because my priority was working and taking care of them, and making sure that they could go to college.
When they were finally both in college, I took in one of their friends, because we had the extra space in our hearts and our home for her, and she needed a family. I am leveraging tuition reimbursement through my employer to pay for school, and will graduate with a degree in business this year.
I am already looking at grad schools. I never expected that my daughters and I would all be in college at the same time, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am grateful I work for a company that has allowed me to grow my career and is helping to pay for my education so that I can provide for my three girls and pay for theirs.
I want other single moms to be able to find careers where they can grow and thrive as well.
